PHILADELPHIA | Lindsay Regan of Easton Area High School added another line Thursday to her impressive pole vaulting résumé.
The Red Rovers senior cleared 12 feet, 8 inches to win the girls high school pole vault competition at the 112th running of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field.
It was her second Penn Relays title after winning as a sophomore in 2004. Regan finished third last year.
"The weather was gorgeous and I felt really comfortable," said Regan, the PIAA record-holder at 13 feet. "It was a nice way to finish up my Penn Relays experience as a high school senior."
Regan came in at 11-4 and cleared that height as well as 11-8 and 12-1 on her first attempts. She won the event by clearing 12-1.
She then set the bar at 12-8, which she cleared on her third try. Regan then set the bar at 13 feet but failed to clear on her three attempts.
Regan's personal best is 13-6 at last year's District 11 Championships, which ranks No. 8 all-time in U.S. prep history and No. 6 outdoors, according to Track and Field News.
Liberty junior Beki Finn, a PIAA runner-up last year, finished tied for second by clearing 11-8. Easton sophomore Abby Schaffer was fourth, Liberty junior Becky Frey was seventh and Kristen Hafford of Warren Hills was eighth. All three cleared 11-8.
Brooke Borso of Whitehall and Tara Oberg of Hunterdon Central both no-heighted.
Regan's sister, Courtney, a junior at Princeton University , cleared 11-0 to finish in a tie for 16th in the collegiate women's pole vault competition.
